Holiday Weekend in Lewes December 6 – 7

It’s that time of year again! We invite everyone to celebrate the holidays in Historic Lewes at the Savannah Inn during the first weekend in December for the “Lewes Historical Society Christmas Tour.” The holiday weekend begins with the tour, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7th. The tour showcases the historic homes of Lewes which are decked for the season! Advance tickets are $20; tickets purchased the day of the tour are $25. Other local activities include an art and craft show at the Lewes Yacht Club and fine art show at the Children’s Beach House. Also, the Annual Soup Luncheon in conjunction with the Holiday house tour will be Saturday, December 7, 11 am to 2 pm, held at St. Peter’s Church parish hall.

Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. enjoy a complimentary cocktail reception for guests of the Savannah Inn on the front porch of the Inn which offers prime views of the Lewes Chamber’s Annual Christmas Parade!

Your Holiday Cheer Weekend also includes a holiday memento to commemorate your special getaway. Room rates start at $140 per night and, as always, include a gourmet breakfast for two people in the morning.

Don’t miss the 23rd Annual Lewes Garden Tour this weekend!

23rd Annual Lewes Garden Tour
Self-guided tour of seven private gardens and one public garden in the historic seaport town of Lewes, Delaware. Five of this year’s gardens are all located in or near the historic district and many of them are walking- distance from the Zwaanendael Park where the Garden Market and the chamber’s visitor center are located. Two of the gardens are located on the Lewes Beach-side of the canal. Additionally, Lewes’ newest public garden will be on the tour. The Children’s Learning Garden, designed to teach children about all aspects of gardening, is a new initiative by Lewes in Bloom, the award winning volunteer organization responsible for the beautification of Lewes.
Complementary activities include a garden market with more than 40 vendors specializing in garden related retail items and working artists will be in the tour gardens painting and tour-goers can enjoy beverages and lunch in the Refreshment Tent provided by Café Amici in Zwaanendael Park with coffee service beginning at 8 a.m. Cape Artists painting in the Gardens: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Libby Zando, Sarah Pavlik, Jean Bowers, Geri Gaskill, Ellen Serafini and two more to be announced at a later date. During the hours of the tour, free shuttle service is available for ticket holders.
